Chelsea midfielder Thorgan Hazard has joined Borussia Monchengladbach

Borussia Monchengladbach have signed Chelsea midfielder Thorgan Hazard on a permanent deal.

The 21-year-old has signed a five-year contract that runs until the summer of 2020 after the Bundesliga club excercised the option on a season-long loan from the Blues.

Midfielder Hazard, who is the younger brother of Chelsea star Eden, has made 25 appearances in all competitions this season and scored against Hertha Berlin in December.

Borussia sporting director Max Eberl said: "Thorgan has indicated in the past few months what a great talent he is. 

"We are delighted that we have managed to sign him and that he has decided to play for Borussia in the next few years."

Hazard joined Chelsea from Lens during the summer of 2012 shorlty after Eden signed from Lille but has never played a first-team game for the club.

He spent the past two seasons on loan at Belgian side Zulte Waregem where he made 99 appearances and scored 18 goals.
