West Ham will have to wait until the end of the season to sign former Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra.

Diarra had been training with West Ham but boss Sam Allardyce confirmed on Wednesday that FIFA had blocked the move happening until the summer.

“We had agreed a deal and unfortunately the FIFA regulation – that hasn’t been explained to me yet – there is a FIFA regulation at the moment that cannot be overcome so he will not be joining us until the end of the season,” Allardyce told Sky Sports News HQ .

Diarra is a free agent having had his contract at Lokomotiv Moscow terminated last August following a reported disagreement with coach Leonid Kuchuk. He had previously played for Chelsea, Arsenal and Portsmouth.
