Lee saluted after dramatic draw

Leam Richardson saluted Tommy Lee after the goalkeeper's saves allowed Chesterfield to snatch a dramatic point against Doncaster.

The visitors led 2-0 through goals by James Coppinger and Andy Butler who exploited defensive uncertainty in the opening minutes with Coppinger firing high past Lee in the third minute and Butler headed in a corner at the back post six minutes later. But Eoin Doyle steered in his 25th goal of the season two minutes before half-time to give Chesterfield hope and Lee saved superbly from Curtis Main and Uche Ikpeazu as Doncaster tried to wrap the game up. Jimmy Ryan made Lee's saves count in the 87th minute when he headed home at the back post and Richardson recognised the contribution of his goalkeeper when he said: "Tommy kept us going at the back. "Even at 2-0 down the players believe they have got quality and the energy and fitness to get things out of games and when you've got a goalkeeper like Tommy Lee keeping a hand on things you've always got a chance at the top end with the quality we've got. "Doncaster have some good individual players who can hurt you on the day and so have we. With the honesty we've got, when Tommy pulled of those couple of saves you start thinking that if we keep going we will get our rewards and thankfully Jimmy Ryan was on the end of header." Doncaster manager Paul Dickov knew his team had the chances to seal victory before Ryan's late leveller. He explained: "We're disappointed conceding that late goal but we started really well, as the scoreline suggests, but in the last 10 or 15 minutes of the first half for some reason we looked as if we just tried to see the game out when there was an hour left in the game and let Chesterfield back into it. "In the second half if we put our chances away we win the game 3-1 or 4-1 had two one-on-ones with the goalkeeper and hit the post. From looking as if we were going to win the game comfortably we've ended up coming away with a point. "But they are a good team, I watched them the other night and they are in the top six for a reason. But we are disappointed because we should have won the game and although a point in the end was probably a fair result, if we take our chances we are sitting here with three."
