Transfer news: Eto'o passes Sampdoria medical as he closes on move to Italy

Everton striker Samuel Eto’o has completed a medical ahead of his transfer to Italian club Sampdoria.

Eto'o posted a picture on Twitter of him with the club doctor and wrote:"Successful medical. Ready for a new challenge!!!"

The Cameroon international joined the Toffees on a free transfer last summer, and has scored four goals in all competitions.

Sampdoria, who are fourth in Serie A, tweeted a picture of Eto'o wearing a club shirt on Saturday.

The 33-year-old is expected to earn £1m per season on a two-and-a-half year deal, with the potential to become a club director once he has finished playing.

Eto’o previously played in Italy with with Inter Milan in 2009, where he scored 25 league goals in two seasons.

The four-time African Footballer of the Year scored 12 goals in 35 games for Chelsea last season.
