Tottenham midfielder Ryan Mason has signed a new contract which will tie him to the club until 2020.

The 23-year-old has made the breakthrough into the first team at Spurs under manager Mauricio Pochettino this season.

Mason signed for Tottenham as a trainee in 2008 and has spent time on loan at Yeovil, Doncaster, Millwall, Leyton Orient and Swindon.

A statement from Tottenham read: "The club is delighted to announce that Ryan Mason has signed a new five-and-a-half-year contract which runs until 2020.

"Our home-grown midfielder netted his first senior goal for us in the League Cup against Nottingham Forest in September last year and hasn't looked back since.

"No less than three days later he was making his Premier League debut at Arsenal and has gone on to establish himself as an important member of our First Team, making 18 appearances so far this season.

"Ryan has also gained extensive experience during loan spells in the Football League previously with Swindon Town, Millwall, Doncaster and Yeovil, clocking up a total of 103 senior appearances in his career to date."
