Premier League: Tony Pulis insists there is room for West Brom to improve after 0-0 draw at Everton

West Brom manager Tony Pulis insists his side have a lot of room to improve to ensure they stay in the Premier League despite taking a well-deserved point at Everton.

Pulis' Baggies fought well in a fine defensive performance at Goodison Park, lifting them to 14th in the Premier League.

But Pulis, despite being happy at West Brom's defensive work, says their performance in possession needs improvement.

He told Sky Sports: "The lads worked very, very hard. There's lots of things we have to improve on and we have to do it quickly because we have to stay up.

"We've only had a few days to really get down to working with the team and the shape.

"They worked so hard off the ball and put their lives on the line at times, but we were poor on the changeover.

"When we get the ball, we have to retain it and get passes off to get up the pitch."

Pulis, who took over from the sacked Alan Irvine at the turn of the year, also admits some of the players obviously hadn't worked on this style of football before.

"They've worked really hard. I don't think they've done a lot of what we've brought to the football club before, but they've embraced it.

"It's nice to pick up a couple early results. We're far away from where we want to be but the spirit and commitment of the players is very good."
