Former Stoke and Crystal Palace manager Tony Pulis is in talks with West Bromwich Albion over their managerial vacancy, according to Sky sources.
And the midlands club are also reportedly speaking to former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood about the post.
Albion have moved swiftly after parting company with head coach Alan Irvine late on Monday evening.
A formal approach has been made for Pulis but Sky understands the 56-year-old, who has been out of management since leaving Crystal Palace before the start of the season, wants full control of transfer activity at the struggling Premier League club.
Pulis has been out of work since his surprise departure from Selhurst Park in August, just two days before the first match of the new season.
Following his arrival in November 2013 with Palace struggling in the league, Pulis kept the club in the top flight and won the Premier League Manager of the Year award for his efforts.
Sherwood would also be available to take charge at the Hawthorns right away, having been out of work since he was sacked by Spurs in May.
The 45-year-old was interviewed by West Brom during the off-season, only for the club to eventually appoint Irvine as the successor to Spaniard Pepe Mel.
Speaking about West Brom to Sky's 'The Fantasy Football Club' back in August, Sherwood said: "I think it is a very good club.
"I had two very long meetings with them and they offered me the position as the manager.
"We carried on the discussions but, in the end, we decided it was not going to be right.
"I've always been told 'If in doubt, leave it out' and there was too much doubt there for me, so I decided, at this stage, that the West Brom job was not the right one for me."
Should Pulis or Sherwood be appointed by West Brom, they will become the sixth full-time appointment at the club since 2009.
