England’s Women proposed friendly with France will be put on hold after the two nations have been drawn in the same group for the 2015 FIFA World Cup in Canada.

As a result of the draw, both associations have mutually agreed to postpone the match, and England will now seek out new opponents for a friendly in April.

Head coach Mark Sampson said: “France approached us to postpone the friendly after the draw and following discussions we agreed to the postponement.

“Our intention is to prepare as thoroughly as possible for the tournament with a balance of training and matches against opponents with a variety of playing styles. We hope to name another opponent for our April fixture as soon as possible.”

After ending their qualification campaign with a perfect record of 10 wins, England have been drawn in Group F alongside France, Colombia and Mexico for next year's finals.
