Celtic winger Aleksandar Tonev will find out on December 4 if his appeal against a seven-match ban has been successful.

The Bulgarian was handed the suspension by the Scottish Football Association last month after being found guilty of 'using offensive, insulting and abusive language of a racist nature'.

Tonev's charge related to an incident during Celtic's home game against Aberdeen on September 13, his debut for the champions, when he was alleged to have racially abused visiting defender Shay Logan.

Tonev, who is on loan from Aston Villa, had strongly denied the accusations and was backed by the Bulgarian Football Union who came out in his defence insisting there was "no evidence of his guilt".

Since lodging the appeal, the 24-year-old has been free to play for Celtic pending the outcome of the hearing.

In a statement, the SFA said: "An Appellate Tribunal will convene on Thursday, 4th December 2014 to consider an appeal against the determination made and sanction imposed by a Judicial Panel Disciplinary Tribunal on 30th October 2014 relative to the case of Aleksandar Tonev (Celtic FC)."
