Sandro says he’d like former team-mate Jermain Defoe to join him at QPR

Queens Park Rangers midfielder Sandro would like to see Jermain Defoe join him at Loftus Road in the January transfer window.

However, Sandro also admits the team are playing well enough at the moment without the former England striker.

The pair were team-mates at Tottenham for three years before Defoe left to join Major League Soccer's Toronto in February, and Sandro then departed White Hart Lane on the last day of the summer transfer window in August.

The Brazilian has become a regular in the R's midfield this season, helping the strugglers claim four points from the last three games, including the Saturday Night Football thriller against Manchester City which ended 2-2.

Jermain Defoe is a great striker. If he comes, he's going to help a lot.

He told Sky Sports News HQ: "We're playing good at this moment. If one player like him comes to help us it's always good. Jermain Defoe is a great striker. If he comes, he's going to help a lot.

"But we are good at the moment. Everyone is scoring goals."

Sandro made only eight appearances in his last five months at Tottenham under Tim Sherwood but he insists he left on good terms despite his lack of match action.

He took to social media to emphasise his disappointment at not playing regularly for Spurs towards the end of his four-year stay, with Sherwood revealing it was due to form not fitness.

The 25-year-old featured in the final two games of the season, though, and moved across London on good terms.

He said: "I think it wasn't fair to say this but we spoke after and it was ok, I don't have anything to say against him."
