Murray Wallace has given Huddersfield a boost by signing a new contract that will keep him at the club until the summer of 2017.

The 21-year-old defender, who arrived from Falkirk in January 2012, has made 28 appearances for the Terriers and is a Scotland Under-21 international.

Manager Chris Powell told the club website: "I'm really pleased that we've been able to secure Murray's future to the club.

"I've been impressed with what I've seen of Murray during my time as manager. He already has good experience of playing at a good level for a central defender of his age and he will only continue to improve as a footballer through experience, which is an important asset for any defender.

"He is the sort of young player that I want in the group; one that is young, hungry to learn and do well for Huddersfield Town.

"Murray has had to stay patient at the moment due to the form of Joel Lynch and Mark Hudson but, as I keep telling him, his chance will definitely come. When it does, it is down to him to be ready to take it."
