Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho is still a couple of weeks away from returning from his thigh injury.

The France international has not featured for the Reds since their Capital Cup tie against Middlesbrough on September 23, a game that ended in a memorable 14-13 penalty shootout victory.

Assistant manager Colin Pascoe was asked about Sakho's fitness at a press conference ahead of their next game in the competition, a fourth-round tie with Swansea City on Tuesday night at Anfield.

Pascoe said: "He's progressing well. He was unfortunate - he came back in and picked up a similar injury.

"It will be another couple of weeks for Mamadou and then hopefully he'll be back. As soon as he's fit and raring to go, he's available."
