QPR manager Harry Redknapp insists he bears no grudge against Adel Taarabt following their public spat this week.
Redknapp dubbed the Moroccan 'the worst professional I've ever come across’ and slammed his training habits with Taarabt hitting back by criticising the QPR training regime and releasing a picture of his stomach.
Despite the row, Redknapp bears no ill will towards the midfielder and he still hopes Taarabt can play a role in QPR’s fight to stay in the Premier League.
"I don't hold grudges," Redknapp said. "He got pushed into writing a load of stuff that wasn't true. I don't think he's been fined and I wouldn't want to fine him.
"I've always been a manager where people go, 'You do love a problem player'. Yes, I have. The big difference is the ones I've had before keep producing on the pitch.
"Unfortunately at the moment Adel needs to produce. He's got great talent. He could be an incredible, incredible footballer for this football club."
Redknapp’s team are currently rooted to the foot of the Premier League table with just four points from eight games.
Taarabt is unlikely to be involved when QPR welcome Aston Villa to Loftus Road on Monday night but Redknapp admits he needs him and is hopeful he can return to form and fitness soon.
“The only person that can help Adel is himself,” he said. “I like him as a boy. I have a good relationship with him.
“He is a fantastic talent and I need him playing. I would love him to be fit.
“I told him before the Liverpool game, ‘Work hard in the reserves. I want to get you back. I want to get you in this team – we need you.’
“No one will be more pleased if he gets himself fit and back in the team. I’d be delighted.”
QPR’s clash with Aston Villa will be shown live on Sky Sports 1 HD, with coverage starting from 7.00pm.
