Premier League: Brede Hangeland happy despite lack of first-team starts at Crystal Palace

Brede Hangeland says he is happy with his bit-part role since swapping Fulham for Crystal Palace this summer.

The centre-half was brought to Selhurst Park by Tony Pulis, who left the club two days before their opening Premier League game at Arsenal.

Hangeland scored on his debut in that game but has since started just twice more in the league - and only once under new Palace manager Neil Warnock.

The 33-year-old said: "I haven't played as much as I'm used to but I'm at an age now in my career that personal ambitions are not as high as they used to be.

"I just want to be a part of a good club and play when called upon but if not I'll support the lads from the sidelines.

"It's a different experience for me, I've been used to playing all of the games all of the time but now it's about being realistic.

"I played around 50 games a year for 10 years running and my hips seem to know so. For me now it's about the team getting results and winning games."
