Lazar Markovic is happy with his choice to join Liverpool but hopes he will be given time to settle fully at Anfield.

The highly-rated winger is experiencing life in England for the first time, following two full seasons in his native Serbia with Partizan and one in Portugal with Benfica.

At just 20 years of age, he has progressed rapidly to find himself on the books of a Premier League heavyweight.

Liverpool are aware of the need to avoid asking too much of the youngster early on, despite shelling out £20million on his services, and have looked to ease him into the fold.

Markovic has welcomed that approach, and believes it is important for him to feel comfortable on and off the field if he is to produce his best.

He told Mondo: “You know how things go in football, I’m getting there and adjusting well.

“It will take a little more time but, all in all, I feel okay.

“I feel great there and everybody has been great with me. I could not wish for more. I’m happy and that is the most important thing.

“My team-mate is the legendary Steven Gerrard, the fans love me and Anfield is great. But, as I said, I just need a little bit more time.”
