Congolese defender Christopher Samba could face sanction for his reaction to racist abuse while playing in a Moscow derby in Russia.
The former Queens Park Rangers and Blackburn player was abused by Torpedo Moscow fans while playing for city rivals Dynamo Moscow.
The 30-year-old was withdrawn at half-time after being taunted but has since been charged by the Russian Football Union (RFU), who claim he directed an "unpleasant gesture" to Torpedo supporters.
Artur Grigoryants – chairman of the RFU disciplinary committee – told a Russian news agency that Samba’s case will be heard on Saturday.
It is not the first time Samba has endured racist abuse during his time in Russia. In 2012, while playing for Anzhi Makhachkala at Torpedo Moscow’s stadium, Samba had a banana thrown at him which he threw back into the stands.
On Tuesday, CSKA Moscow will play Bayern Munich in an empty stadium in the Champions League as punishment following another case of racist behaviour.
CSKA also face UEFA charges over racist behaviour and crowd disorder at a Champions League game against Roma this month. Those charges will be heard on Oct. 3.
