Wolves midfielder Lee Evans has signed a new three-year contract with the Sky Bet Championship club.

The 20-year-old’s deal, which includes the option of a further year in the club’s favour, will keep him at Molineux until 2017.

Evans has earned the contract – his present one still had two years remaining – after creating a big impression in his 34 appearances since moving from Newport County in January 2013.

The Wales U21 international told Wolves’ official website: “I’m delighted to have signed the new deal. We’ve been talking about it for a while and I see it as the next stepping stone in my career.

“I know sometimes people think that players get a new contract and start to relax – that’s not what I am going to be doing. I want to kick on now, keep improving and trying to keep my place in the team.”

Wolves head coach Kenny Jackett said: “I am very pleased that Lee has committed his future to the club. At 20 years old, he is one of a number of very promising players we have here.

“Now he has the opportunity to build on what he has done last year and so far this season as well.

“With the confidence that his contract is sorted out we hope he will continue to improve and show that he has a bright future at Wolves.”
