Southend have signed England youth international Jerome Binnom-Williams on a one-month loan deal from Crystal Palace.

The 19-year-old featured in a Capital One Cup game for the Eagles last term and played for the full 90 minutes at Walsall in that competition last month.

Binnom-Williams also spent a brief spell with Forest Green last season and has been brought in following the news that Ben Coker is set for a spell on the sidelines.

Phil Brown told the official Southend website: "Jerome was a player we had on our radar and was given a squad number by Tony Pulis at Palace for this season.

"Tony took him away on tour with him this pre-season and spoke very highly of him. He hasn't got any Football League experience, but the feedback from Forest Green Rovers was also good.

"He's a big lad with a lot of pace. He trained well on Thursday and will be right in contention for Saturday's game."
