Crawley have announced that defender Connor Essam has left the club by mutual consent.

The club confirmed the 22-year-old's contract has been cancelled by mutual consent and he leaves after just over 16 months at Broadfield Stadium. Crawley's chief executive Michael Dunford told the club's website: "Connor is going to further his career elsewhere and we would like to thank him for his services to Crawley Town and wish him all the best for the future." Essam came through the academy at Gillingham before joining the Reds in January 2013 and he has since made 12 appearances for the club. He had a short spell on loan at non-League Dartford before Christmas last year, where he netted against Halifax on his final appearance.
