Away point delights Wilson

Barnsley boss Danny Wilson was "delighted" to secure a 1-1 draw at Yeovil on Saturday to make it four games unbeaten.

The Tykes have started the season brightly, but had to stand firm in the latter stages as Yeovil piled forward. Barnsley dominated proceedings in the first half as Yeovil struggled to come to grips with the side who were relegated with them last term. Conor Hourihane scored a screamer from 25 yards to take the lead, helped along the way by a slight knick off the charging Joe Edwards. The second half was a different story. Yeovil heaped on the pressure and enjoyed chances galore but were ultimately toothless in the final third. But the Glovers needed a familiar face to offer a helping hand as Yeovil-born Martin Cranie could only put into his own net against his former club. Wilson said: "It's a great draw, especially at the end there. From the first 45 minutes we totally dominated and possibly should have had more goals. "We played some very, very good football and created good chances but we came up against Chris Weale who pulled off some good saves. "Then, it was quite opposite in the second half, there was a lot of pressure against us. "I am delighted to come here and get something to take back. Huish Park is going to be a very difficult place to come as the season goes on and Gary Johnson gets his side playing like they did in the second half all of the time. "That's three goals now for Conor and teams will start to look at that, let's hope he can add to his tally. When you have got that in your side you have got that touch and strike it's very good ammunition." Yeovil boss Johnson said: "The overriding emotion is more that I was was proud of the second half performance. "I did say that they would be the strongest we have come up against so far. "We weren't quite ready for their sharp, clever, quick play in the first half and the lad they paid a few hundreds of thousands of pounds for scored that goal worth a few hundreds of thousands of pounds from outside the box. "We weren't good enough in the first half to create dangerous chances. "In the second half, we showed that willingness and effort and desire to get into he box and create chances. "What did come out was the passion as well as the amount of shots, free-kicks and corners mean we would have liked to have scored more than one. "In the second half, we showed our public that there is a team there." Breaking news, transfer gossip, line ups and goal alerts from your football club - delivered direct to your mobile.
