Newcastle have confirmed midfielder Sylvain Marveaux has joined French club Guingamp on a season-long loan.

The 28-year-old arrived at St James' Park on a free transfer from Rennes during the summer of 2011 and has made 57 appearances.

But Marveaux played just 11 times last season and he was not included in the squad which flew out to New Zealand at the weekend.

He has been training with the development squad during the early part of pre-season, and now appears to be out of manager Alan Pardew's plans.

Pardew has made six signings so far this summer, and has midfielders Jack Colback, Siem de Jong and Remy Cabella all vying for places at the club.
