No decision on trialist duo

Crewe boss Steve Davis has been impressed with trialist duo Chris Atkinson and Cameron Lancaster but hasn't decided on their futures.

Midfielder Atkinson and striker Lancaster are free agents following their release from Huddersfield and Spurs respectively, and both played in Crewe's pre-season draw at Chester. Davis told the club's website: "They had only been in for three days and then for the game. I haven't spoken to anyone about them yet, so we'll see what happens next."Atkinson, 22, has over 70 professional appearances since coming through at Huddersfield, with loan spells at Darlington, Chesterfield, Tranmere and Bradford. Lancaster made just five professional appearances, all from the bench, during his time at Spurs and while on loan at Dagenham. Davis added: "Chris hadn't been training with anybody, so that was really his first taste of football this season. For the 70 minutes he was good, worked hard and got up there and got some opportunities. "He took his goal well, that's what he can do. He's got a decent record of scoring goals from that position and he averaged one in three goals at Chesterfield. "He has the capabilities of being a goalscoring attacking midfield player which is really what we're looking for. "We tried to get more support up there around Cameron, but he was left a little bit isolated at times. He's another one who was a little bit tight around his groin at half-time."
