Ivan Franjic has been ruled out of the remainder of Australia's World Cup campaign after injuring his left hamstring in Friday's 3-1 defeat to Chile.
Franjic was replaced early in the second half and Australia coach Ange Postecoglou confirmed that medical scans showed a "fairly significant tear."
The 26-year-old defender had a difficult start as Australia conceded two early goals, but played a role in the comeback with a cross in the lead-up to Tim Cahill's goal that made it 2-1 before half-time.
His absence leaves a hole for Australia at right-back for Wednesday's match against the Netherlands, with Ryan McGowan likely to take Franjic's place.
Franjic admitted on social media he was "shattered to get the bad news."
