Rookie Portsmouth defender Jack Whatmough has signed an extension to his contract.

The 17-year-old was handed his senior debut against Southend last November and has made a total of nine first-team appearances. Caretaker boss Andy Awford told Pompey's website: "Jack has made a big impression this season and deserves a new deal. "We're delighted that he's shown commitment to the Pompey cause by agreeing to lengthen his stay here. "I'd also like to thank chief executive Mark Catlin and finance director Tony Brown for all their hard work in getting this deal completed."
