Derry dazed and confused

Image: Shaun Derry: Wants some pride from his players

Notts County boss Shaun Derry was left "baffled" by his side's defending in the 3-1 defeat by MK Dons.

Teenager Dele Alli put Dons into a commanding 2-0 lead at half-time before hosts County replied through Alan Sheehan's penalty with 20 minutes left. But Alli wrapped up his treble in the dying moments to leave Derry scratching his head. "I'm totally bemused if I am honest," said Derry. "I've seen the goals again and wow. Just wow. It was schoolboy defending all over the pitch. "We've given goals away all night. If you look at the decisions that they make then you appreciate why we are where we are. "To go from the goalless draw against Leyton Orient on Saturday to that just baffles me. Nothing changes. We are still making the same fundamental errors every single time we get on the pitch. "One day we'll then go and surprise someone by playing the way I want us to play. Things go well, but then we just cannot back it up and it's a major, major, problem. "We've a massive game at Tranmere on Saturday. I'm a glass half-full guy and what this club needs is an injection of pride. The only people who can deliver it at this moment in time are the players."
