Benfica coach Jorge Jesus does not want to see Ezequiel Garay leave for Zenit St Petersburg.
The 27-year-old defender's impressive form this season has led to reports linking him with a summer move to a number of clubs, including some in the Premier League.
Given that the Russian transfer market is still open, Zenit can sign the Argentine centre-back and have reportedly made an offer to the Portuguese giants.
However, Jesus insists that Garay will not be sold before the end of the season, but admits that it is Benfica's board who will make the final decision.
"Garay is very important for us," he told reporters.
"My desire is that no footballer leaves the club, but it depends on the directors."
