David Perkins has left Barnsley to join Championship rivals Blackpool on a free transfer.
The Lancaster-born midfielder agreed terms after travelling to the Fylde coast for talks and has signed an 18-month deal at Bloomfield Park.
Blackpool face Barnsley at Oakwell on Saturday but as part of the deal, Perkins will not be allowed to face his former club.
The 31-year-old joined Barnsley as Keith Hill's first signing in the summer of 2011 from Colchester and has made 100 appearances for the Reds.
Perkins started his career with Morecambe, where he played 170 league games, and had a spell with Rochdale before joining Colchester in 2008.
