Scunthorpe have confirmed that striker Chris Iwelumo has left the club by mutual consent.

The well-travelled 35-year-old's contract was scheduled to expire in the summer, but he has been released early following the arrival of fellow forwards Paul Hayes and Paddy Madden. Iwelumo said on Twitter: "I want to thank everyone associated with Scunthorpe United football club, players, staff and all the fans. "I want to wish you the very best for the rest of the season where I'm hoping you all go up as champions." Iwelumo joined the club in the summer under former boss Brian Laws, but initially struggled with his fitness and failed to win a regular place in the starting line-up. He scored two goals in 12 appearances for the club, but made only four starts.
