Wayne Rooney will miss Manchester United's final game of the Premier League season at West Brom on Sunday afternoon.

The England forward has been given permission to sit out the trip to The Hawthorns as wife Coleen is due to give birth to the couple's second child.

The 27-year-old's Old Trafford future is in doubt after recently asking for a transfer.

Sir Alex Ferguson stressed that the new manager at Old Trafford, David Moyes, will deal with Rooney's request as soon as he takes over the hot seat at United.

Rooney also missed 71-year-old Ferguson's final home game - before his retirement - against Swansea last week and he will now miss the Scot's final ever game in management.
