Tottenham manager Andre Villas-Boas has reiterated his desire to keep winger Gareth Bale at White Hart Lane.
Bale, 23, has enjoyed a superb season, during which he has scored 30 goals for club and country to attract the interest of the Europe's leading teams.
His efforts have seen him rewarded by being named Football Writers' Association footballer of the year and player and young player of the year by the Professional Footballers' Association.
The Wales international has been linked with a big-money move away from Spurs, although reports on Friday suggested he was close to signing a new improved contract worth £170,000-a-week.
Villas-Boas claims he is in the dark whether Bale is any closer to committing his future to Spurs, but the Portuguese coach is in no doubt that he wants the former Southampton man at the club next season.
"I'm not sure (about whether Bale is close to signing a new deal), our interest is for the player to continue here and I've made that very clear," said Villas-Boas.
"Whatever is happening, the idea is for the player to be here next season.
"I have said this numerous times. We are pretty confident we will be able to keep him."
