Beattie up for Bees challenge

New Barnet signing Craig Beattie is confident he can "bring a lot to the table" at Underhill.

The former Celtic striker joined Edgar Davids' side after being released by SPL side St Johnstone last month and he believes he will be a hit with the Barnet supporters over the rest of this campaign. The 29-year-old told the club's official website: "I do not think I have lost any ability and the hunger is definitely there so hopefully the supporters, players and management at Barnet will quickly see what I have to offer." "Playing in Scotland again was a great experience because it is where I learnt my trade playing for Celtic. "I went back last year and had a great time. It did not work out this season but that is behind me now and I am looking forward to a new challenge." Beattie failed to break into the first team at St Johnstone after signing in August and made just four substitute appearances before his contract was cancelled by mutual termination, but he is keen to make up for it at Barnet. "The past few months have been a difficult time for because as a footballer the only thing you want to be doing is playing games," he added. "Now I am here all I want to do is get on the pitch and score goals. "Everywhere I have been the team has been successful. I have had a lot of great moments and gathered a lot of experience along the way. "I am well aware that we are in a relegation fight but hopefully I can bring some of that experience into the team, nobody wants to go down and I will do my best to prevent that."
