Mark Reynolds has left Sheffield Wednesday by mutual consent, after becoming surplus to requirements at Hillsborough.
The defender joined for £100,000 from Motherwell just over two years ago but made just 14 appearances for the South Yorkshire side after failing to establish a place in the side.
It was a disappointing move for the promising youngster, who had made his debut for his hometown club aged just 18 and amassed over 200 appearances.
He returned to his native Scotland in January 2012 to join Aberdeen on loan, and re-signed to play for Craig Brown's side this season.
He has played 28 games already during 2012-13 and will now be free to join on a permanent deal if he is offered the chance.
Sheffield Wednesday have thanked the defender for his services and wished him well for the future
