Sky Sports sources understand Wigan have agreed a fee with Barnsley for defender John Stones.
The 18-year-old has been tracked by a host of Premier League clubs, but Wigan look to have secured a deal for his services.
A fee believed to be in the region of £3million has been agreed and now the player is set for talks with Wigan.
Latics boss Roberto Martinez has been eager to bolster his defensive options, and Stones will give him options at both full-back and centre-half - if they secure his signature before the 11pm deadline.
