Galatasaray have confirmed they are in negotiations with Shanghai Shenhua to complete the signing of Didier Drogba.
Reports on CNN Turk over the weekend suggested Drogba had already agreed a one-and-a-half year deal at the Turkish club.
And while those details are yet to be confirmed, Galatasaray made a statement to the Istanbul Stock Exchange on Monday to confirm they are in talks with the Chinese club.
The 34-year-old striker, who is currently captaining the Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa, only joined Shanghai Shenhua from Chelsea last summer.
But rumours of an imminent return to Europe emerged earlier this winter when he applied for permission to leave on loan before the January transfer window but FIFA refused the request.
Now Drogba is set to become the latest high-profile star to join Galatasaray in the space of a week following the signing of Inter Milan playmaker Wesley Sneijder.
Both players are potentially eligible to face Bundesliga side Schalke in the last 16 of the Champions League next month.
