Werder Bremen captain Clemens Fritz has revealed he would like to end his career in the MLS.
The 32-year-old former Germany international has 18 months left on his contract at the Weserstadion and while he has no immediate desire to leave, he has been making plans for his longer-term future.
He said: "I might not be a professional player in three years' time. I am likely to have a year off at the end of my career.
"I always dreamed of travelling the world for a year. Therefore, I could see myself being interested in a future move to Major League Soccer.
"The United States could be an exciting life option. Maybe for one season, maybe even two years. But it's not that easy in football.
"Most important for me is that I am healthy enough when I have quit the game."
Fritz joined Werder in 2006 from Bayer Leverkusen and was capped 22 times by his country.
