Gareth Evans has cited Fleetwood manager Graham Alexander as a major factor in his decision to move to the Fylde Coast.
The 24-year-old had his contract at Rotherham terminated by mutual consent on New Year's Eve and wasted little time in securing a move to their League Two counterparts. Evans made his Cod Army debut as a half-time substitute in Saturday's 3-1 defeat at Northampton, playing his part in an improved display after the interval, and he is looking forward to the prospect of regular football having been frozen out of the first-team picture by boss Steve Evans at the New York Stadium. "I had a few things in place coming towards the end of December because I wasn't playing football and wasn't particularly in the manager's plans at Rotherham," the winger said. "I was keen to get out and once Fleetwood showed an interest it was an easy decision. "I know about the club, about how it's going places, and it was the manager more than anything really. "I went and met the manager in the last week of December, and once I got to speak to him about what his plans were for the club and what his ambitions were it was bang on really and just what I was looking for."
