Shrewsbury midfielder Luke Summerfield could be sidelined for up to six weeks with a hernia problem, manager Graham Turner confirmed.
The 25-year-old has made 23 appearances for the Shrews this term since sealing a move to Greenhous Meadow in the summer.
Turner revealed Summerfield will undergo an operation to resolve the injury, which is likely to result in a lengthy absence.
Turner told the club's official website: "It's more or less confirmed he needs a hernia operation so the best case scenario will probably be three to four weeks out but it could be five to six if there are any hold ups.
"That's a big blow to us. Luke has played well in midfield. He's used the ball well, he's got terrific energy in there and he probably has been the most consistent player so far.
"As quickly as we can get it done, we will, and he'll be rehabilitating and back in action."
