Botafogo president Mauricio Assumpcao has dismissed suggestions that he wants to sign David Beckham.
The 37-year-old former England international midfielder will leave Los Angeles Galaxy after the MLS Cup final in December and has been linked with a number of clubs.
According to a report in one English tabloid, the Brazilian outfit too are interested in Beckham, but Assumpcao insists that he has no plan to sign the former Manchester United and Real Madrid star.
"There is zero chance, no chance! I do not know where they got that from," he told ESPN Brasil.
"We have not sounded him out, nobody from Botafogo has contacted him. The values reported in the English newspapers report are absurd.
"In the past, an agent connected to the player in Europe talked with Carlos Alberto Torres about a possible move.
"Carlos called me. If we had not been successful with [signing Clarence] Seedorf, it would have been an option.
"But that was back then, now there is nothing."
