Cheltenham striker Darryl Duffy is desperate to make his mark on the first team after making his maiden league start of the season at the weekend.

The 28-year-old got the nod over regular starter Shaun Harrad as the Robins recorded an impressive 3-0 win over Exeter City.

Duffy was the club's top scorer last term with 15 goals in his first year but has found himself used predominantly from the bench since Harrad's arrival over the summer.

However, the former Bristol Rovers forward is determined to hold on to his place in the starting line-up by netting against non-league side Yate this Saturday in the FA Cup.

"Hopefully it will be another chance for me to impress, because cup competitions are generally a time when players who aren't playing regularly in the league get an opportunity to show what they can do," he told Sky Sports.

"We've always played very strong teams in the FA Cup, so I'm not sure whether I will get the nod this time but hopefully I will.

"I hadn't started a league game this season before Saturday, with my one and only start before that coming in the Johnstone's Paint Trophy match, which I scored in.

"So, from a personal point of view, it has been really frustrating but all I can do is keep my head down, work hard and wait for my chance."
