Nottingham Forest have signed Norwich defender Elliott Ward on an emergency loan.

The centre-back joins Sean O'Driscoll's side until 29 December and is available for Saturday's trip to Oakwell.

O'Driscoll moved for Ward after Daniel Ayala sustained a hamstring injury at Blackpool that could keep him out for up to three weeks.

Chairman Omar Al Hasawi said: "Once it became clear that Daniel would miss a number of games we felt it was important to add to our defensive options.

"Elliott has great experience having played in the Premier League with Norwich last season and will be a valuable addition to our squad."

Ward worked with O'Driscoll during a loan spell with Doncaster in 2010. He joined Norwich later that year and was a member of their promotion-winning squad in 2011.
