Amond shouts up for Richardson

Padraig Amond has echoed the thoughts of Accrington chief executive Rob Heys that Leam Richardson should be the next manager.

Richardson served as assistant to Paul Cook and will take the Stanley team at Bristol Rovers on Saturday in light of the latter's departure to Chesterfield this week. The former Reds defender did a similar job when John Coleman made the switch to Rochdale last season and Amond has implored the board to offer Richardson the post on permanently, with Heys quoted on Friday morning as saying he would be a frontrunner if he opts against joining Cook at the Proact Stadium, "I think he should be offered the job straight away, that's my opinion," said Amond. "The board should sit down and offer him the job. "He's the best person available - he knows the club inside out, he knows the players inside out. "He had a little taste of it last year so if it was up to me I'd give him the job straight away."
