Sky Sports understands that Norwich City defender Elliott Ward is to join Nottingham Forest on a two-month loan.
Reds boss Sean O'Driscoll revealed on Thursday that he was closing on the capture of a Premier League performer.
He announced that a deal had been agreed in principle with the player concerned, with Forest keen to get an agreement pushed through ahead of the weekend.
Ward is believed to be the man on Forest's radar, and he is happy to make a move to the City Ground.
Should the 27-year-old complete a switch in time, he could provide cover for Daniel Ayala - a Norwich colleague currently taking in a loan spell on Trentside - when Forest travel to Barnsley.
O'Driscoll would have no concerns about throwing Ward straight into Championship action having previously worked with the centre-half during his time at Doncaster Rovers.
