Dundee winger Nicky Riley has asked the club's fans to keep faith in the team despite their poor start to the campaign.

Barry Smith's team have struggled to adapt on their return to the top flight after their late admittance to the league following a summer of uncertainty regarding Rangers.

The Dark Blues are rooted to the foot of the Premier League table following a 4-1 defeat by Inverness Caley at Dens Park last Friday.

While Riley is sympathetic to the disappointment of the Dundee supporters the 26-year-old insists there is much to play for.

Riley said: "I can kind of understand frustration when you consider recent results. Some of them were probably just getting into their seats early on in Friday night and then all of a sudden we find ourselves 2-0 down.

"But let's remember we're only one quarter of the way through the season. Nobody in the dressing-room has chucked it or are feeling like that.

"One win could turn our season round and get the confidence going among the lads. We are definitely united behind the manager.

"It's through no lack of effort that we find ourselves where we are right now. All it takes is a wee change in fortunes which could turn things for us."
