Sky Sports understands Steven Pressley, Sean Dyche and Steve Davis are all in the frame for the Burnley manager's job.

Burnley are searching for a new manager following Eddie Howe's return to Bournemouth earlier this month.

Terry Pashley is currently in caretaker charge at Turf Moor and has guided the side to back-to-back wins in the Championship.

A host of names have been linked with the vacant position, but Burnley are now thought to have whittled down their shortlist to a handful of candidates.

Burnley are thought to be keen to bring in a young boss to succeed Howe and Falkirk chief Pressley, former Watford manager Dyche and Crewe boss Davis are all thought to figure highly in their plans.

The Clarets are also believed to have considered a number of other candidates including Walsall's Dean Smith and Tranmere's Ronnie Moore.

Smith is highly-rated having done an impressive job at Walsall on a shoestring budget and has won many admirers this season for his attractive attacking style of football.

Moore was also in the frame after his superb start to the season at Tranmere after guiding them to the top of League One.
