Jose Reina is struggling to be fit for this Sunday's Merseyside derby at Goodison Park.
The Liverpool goalkeeper missed last weekend's win over Reading after sustaining a hamstring injury while on international duty with Spain.
He has already been ruled out of tonight's Europa League tie against Anzhi Makhachkala and remains doubtful to face Everton.
The 30-year-old did not take part in training on Wednesday morning at Melwood and Reds' assistant manager Colin Pascoe said: "We are not quite sure at the moment.
"Hopefully, it won't be too long. He is doing his rehab at the moment and is working hard.
"So we will just have to assess him over the weekend and we will see then."
