Ipswich Town have announced that Danny Higginbotham will remain on loan with the club until the end of December after reaching an agreement with Stoke City.
The 33-year-old made the move to Portman Road in September and his initial one-month deal is set to come to an end after Tuesday's Championship clash with Derby County.
Paul Jewell has previously made no secret of his desire to keep Higginbotham for longer, and he has now been granted his wish after the loan was extended.
"We are delighted that we have managed to keep Danny with us until the end of December," Town chief executive Simon Clegg told the club's official website.
"He has settled into the team and the club very easily and made it known that he would like to stay here when we started discussions about extending his loan.
"He is very much committed to the cause here and I know he's delighted that we have managed to reach an agreement with Stoke that keeps him in an Ipswich Town shirt for the rest of the year."
