Brighton boss Gus Poyet admits he was frustrated by his team's lack of cutting edge following the 1-0 reverse to Middlesbrough.

Albion have the best defensive record in the Championship this term, but they were undone by a deflected shot from Marvin Emnes midway through the first half.

But Brighton are finding it hard to win at the Amex as they have triumphed in only two of their last 10 games at home, which Poyet believes is down to profligacy in most instances.

Poyet said: "It's painful really. Right now we are not scoring. We have the best defence in the Championship yet we can't win.

"It is up to us. It's a team problem in terms of how many chances you create. We only have ourselves to blame for not scoring.

"In our recent home games we have had chances to win easily. If the players were not trying I would be very upset. The only thing you can ask is for them to put the ball in the net."
