Republic of Ireland boss Giovanni Trapattoni has been backed again by the Football Association of Ireland to continue in the job.
The 73-year-old Italian has suffered heavy criticism after the 6-1 World Cup qualifying defeat at the hands of Germany, but vows to carry on with what he insists is a longer-term plan.
Trapattoni held talks with FAI chief executive John Delaney at the Abbotstown headquarters on Friday - and was positive in his outlook afterwards.
He said: "John and I met today to clarify the thoughts of the board and these were agreed and confirmed by me. It was a useful and professional conversation and I thank him for this.
"During the meeting, we discussed a number points that were raised by the board to help us continue to improve our work for the association."
A 4-1 victory in the Faroe Islands at the weekend eased the pressure on the Republic manager, despite a bust-up between defender Stephen Kelly and Trapattoni's assistant Marco Tardelli.
