Santos insist they are no longer interested in signing unwanted Chelsea midfielder Florent Malouda.
The 32-year-old, who was born in South America in French Guyana, has been frozen out at Stamford Bridge under Roberto Di Matteo and has not played this season.
He was strongly linked with Santos over the summer, and their interest appeared to be rekindled earlier this week when coach Muricy Ramalho spoke of his admiration for the player.
"Malouda is a great player, a classic player that knows how to dictate tempo, he would be very interesting," he told Lancenet.
"Besides, he has a lot of experience, and has played for big clubs in Europe".
However, the hierarchy at Santos have acted quickly to deny he is available.
Santos' vice-president Odilio Rodrigues told Lancenet: "We did have talks with Malouda a few months ago, but he is not in our plans anymore.
"We are not negotiating with Malouda, we have other priorities. We understand he is a great player but we didn't make any new offer."
