Sheffield Wednesday manager Dave Jones is hoping Everton will agree to let Ross Barkley extend his loan deal at Hillsborough.
Barkley joined the Owls for an initial month in mid-September and he has scored once in six Championship appearances.
Reports suggest his loan will expire after Friday's game against Leeds United, but Jones is keen to hang on to the teenage winger.
"Hopefully we can keep Ross," said Jones in the Sheffield Star.
"I think they [Everton] want us to have him because the kid hasn't done anything wrong.
"Ross is a kid and going to make mistakes, but he's some player when he drives on and plays the way he does."
Barkley has made 10 appearances in all competitions for Everton and the 18-year-old is tipped for a bright future at Goodison Park.
